In letter, 1882, to "Dear Sir," Thomas Hardy comments that he has nothing for magazine publication at present but may consider contributing in the future; and in letter, 1905, to Gerald Maxwell, Hardy comments favorably on Court Journal, but has nothing for the Christmas issue, and says he is busy with second part of The dynasts. In letter, 1919, to Charlotte Mary Mew, Hardy thanks her for the poem she wrote in a volume "made up by my poet friends."
